This work is the first classical composition ever written for handpan solo and symphonic orchestra.

The handpan is an instrument born outside institutions, carried by orality, improvisation and the search for timbre.
Long associated with soloist or intimate forms, it had never before integrated the symphonic concertante form.
This concertino was born from the meeting of two trajectories: that of two rhythmicians, one a jazz drummer and composer from classical music, and the other, a percussionist, musician of gesture, breath and resonance.
The work seeks neither effect nor exoticism.
The handpan is treated here as a full solo voice, dialoguing with a complete symphonic orchestra.
The drums act as a rhythmic companion, a bridge between worlds.
The concertino offers a clear, contrasted and immediately legible narrative, conceived as much for the uninitiated audience as for musical institutions.
It is less about introducing a new instrument than opening a space: that of a living, permeable, and resolutely contemporary orchestra.
The handpan is used here in the number of two in order to cover almost all the harmonic changes of the piece.
The instrument is neither decorative nor anecdotal: it marks, heightens, discusses with the orchestra and carries the musical narrative.
